Quello bianco

I notice the white Fluence is no longer on Autotrader.

Any comments?

I'm not so sure. 'howmanyleft.com' is showing less Fluences than last quarter, and less still than the quarter before. They are going somewhere. Very strange.[hr]

Going the way of the EV1, but in stealth mode?

I'll certainly notice if mine suddenly disappears! Do they have an effective immobiliser or is that also controlled by Renault?

They can disable charging remotely, apparently, for example if you don't keep up the battery rent payment!! I noticed that in some document I read somewhere. I guess we can worry about whether we might be left high-and-dry one day with a false signal.

Apparently, some Leafies have reported losing charging function before now - maybe they have the same function and have experienced this. The fix in those cases appears to have been to disconnect the 12V battery for a few moments, which 'resets' the car.

It's back! The white one is back for sale at Manchester Renault for 7,000.

It shows the mileage as 928. How does that compare with when it was handed back some months ago?

Has it barely moved or have they now fixed it?

Good job I found this forum by Googling...

Have been chewing over the idea of a new Fluence for some time, but have not yet to come to terms with the battery rental. It just seems daft, and I think that in time Renault will realise it's daft too.

That said, it does have the effect of softening prices enormously and at current levels I might just be able to overlook it (though I'm guessing that once the rental paperwork is signed, that's it, no getting out of it - ever).

Anyway, if you don't mind me asking, what was up with the white one? I'd half had a mind to telephone the dealer!

RE: Quello bianco

That one's not Paul's. His was KXT and a couple 1,000 miles at last advertising, iirc, this one's KXW (by the photo).

Paul's brake system failed, which is a known technical service bulletin on the Fluence now. His motor also shot the car forward, uncommanded, apparently.

Might be the same 'batch', though, so don't get surprised if this does the same!!
