Having hibernated over the winter my car needing charging yesterday and, for once, I used the wall charger. I know it's 4 days late but are Renault and Polar Chargemaster winding us up with an April Fool?
12.32 charge started
car estimated 5h 25m to fully charge
android app shows 39% charge
12.33 polar website shows charge stopped
duration of charge nil
energy used 19kw
if we assume connection for almost a minute that's 1140kw/hour!
2.20 checked android app
app shows 69% charge
car display shows time to complete 1h 32 mins
car seems to have lost 1h 48 mins
3.50 app notifies charge complete to 100%
time taken 3h 18 mins
car has now lost 2h 7 mins
Now the calculation:
charging from 25% usually needs 15kwh
charging from 39% should need 12.2 kwh
charge time 2.25h
rate of charge 5.5kwh
that's 50% more than the charger can do
but a damned sight better than the polar website figure!
If Polar always gets charging figures hopelessly wrong when using their home charger, how can they possibly charge the right amount when using one of their chargers away from home???
Happy Easter everyone
