BATTERY CHANGE

Last sunday I reached the "magical" number of 75% of battery health...
Today I went to my local renault dealer, and they confirmed; So, now I`m waiting for a battery swap; I guess with August around the corner (typical holiday month ), I´ll probably have to wait until september.....

RE: BATTERY CHANGE

Interesting. How could you/they establish you were at 75%?

Also, did they put up any resistance or did they just agree to it readily?

The benefit of the Battery Lease becomes evident!

RE: BATTERY CHANGE

Renault establishes 75% by their diagnostic tool.

The iCarSoft and my Arduino CanBus Shield Fluence Spy can read the Pack Health and Actual battery capacity in Ah of the battery.

In my case, with less than 10000km per year and very hot weather in the summer (the last 2 weeks all nights above 26ºC) I think battery lease is better than buying.

That´s the point...! And those values, obtained with either the icarsoft or the Arduino match with great precision those of renault.
They know they have to change the pack, so, no questions asked...the only thing is that I might have to display a 74% bat. health. which in my case is another week or two......
wheels are turning and I guess they´ll get in touch with me very soon...
There`s also a chance that I might get a refurbished battery...the contrat is not clear about getting a new one.

RE: BATTERY CHANGE

No - honestly doubt it will be a new one, like Mobile Phone insurance, you get a factory refurb / rework but I would expect at least a minimum of 95% efficiency. The contract lease simply states replacement, and being pragmatic I would expect they could get away with a pack that states 80%, but that just creates more work for them down the line.

RE: BATTERY CHANGE

Just out of interest flyer, how did the deterioration of the battery manifest itself?

Did you lose a lot of range or only a small amount, for example?

It`s a smooth deterioration...and you notice it either by the range shown, or simple because you`re not able to do the same driving you were used to. Your range gradually fades away...little by little...

RE: BATTERY CHANGE

This is the same situation I experienced in my Vectrix bike (usual range 80m) now 8 after a full charge. It would seem the degradation is imperceptible but cumulative. As I'd have to pay £5k for a replacement - NOT including fitting - so that's an unlikely prospect!

Interesting - so what sort of range have you been getting as you've been sinking to the 75% mark (I realise this is all very approximate and depends on lots of factors)?
