Annual Service Time

Got the 30-day countdown message on the dash the other day so thought I'd call the same dealer I used last year. You might recall they originaly planned to charge 150 because it was 'like a Megane' and the Renault database had NO Fluence pricing. After pointing out the Megane wasn't an EV they settled on a Zoe.... and the eventual bill was 80.

This year, I was quoted 150 which I again challenged. This time, there was no mention of whether the Fluence was listed as a price, but I was told it was similar to a Zoe.... the difference being between an 'A' or 'B' service. This year it is a 'B' snd the additional work required is pollen filter replacement and 'coolant'. I declined these items, and the final price was now 80 (again).

Watch out for this - especially if there is plenty of life left in your filter (and aftermarket replacements are around 5).

I can't remember which of the A and B services is the big one and which the small. From memory I paid just over 100 for the larger one at what was Wests in Cambridge and 56 for the smaller one at Smith in Peterborough.

That would be around what I would expecting - allowing for regional varations. Hopefully this will continue as there's certainly not going to be any rush of 'new' EV Fluence owners!

Back from the service, at a cost of 90 and me resisting the Pollen Filter swap. Car was given a clean bill of health and no issues - One nice touch was being emailled an MP4 video file with the service tech going round the wheel hubs and brakes showing lack of wear or other issues.

Only downside was the lack of a replacement cable swap under the Blue recall - they forgot to order it, DESPITE me reminding them when I booked it in!

I too am still waiting for the replacement cable. After my car was serviced last June I pointed out to the service manager that his computer screen showed that a cable swap was required - he hadn't read it! He checked an d, of course, they didn't have one so he said he'd order it from France and confirm when it arrived. I'm still waiting. So now I have two cables that require replacing - my blue 10A cable does get somewhat warm around the terminals - but at least it works. I've given up on the wall charger. I'm on my second Chargemaster/Polar unit and its failure rate when charging is pathetic and I note that the connector to the car is a very tight fit in the car's socket unlike the original (and the 10A cable) both of which fitted beautifully and clicked nicely into place.

Interesting! I was told the issue with the original blue leads was the crimping of the leads to the terminals at the T1 plug. Now I've kept an eye of this and it has never overheated in use so cleary mine is fine after 2 years of use. I've never used the 10a brick and it remains unused in its ZE bag for possible future use, but (touch wood) not been caught out (yet!).

I gather the replacements are just black cable but with the blue release latch as before. If they're giving it away, I'm not going to refuse it bearing in mind the replacement cost! Let's see how long they take to get it to me!

My two (so far) annual services at the Renault dealer were 39 each.

I was quoted 139, which might have been for the diesel version.

The fitter had to be booked, as he's not on their permanent staff. Presumably he works his way around lots of garages dealing with the very small number of cars they have sold.

The brake fluid change at four years appeared to be an oversight, and they called me back for that a month after the main service. Again the specialist fitter/ mechanic had to be booked.

None of this took more than an hour. Last time, I'd only just got home after dropping of the car when they called me to say it was ready. In fact they drove it back to my house half an hour later and picked up their loan car.
