****...software bug in R-link postpones Zoe launch

Sad news...

http://europe.autonews.com/apps/pbcs...120729929/1042

Maybe the software glitch is just an excuse for the real reason, the change of the battery we read about last month.

Although you can't compare automotive software with standard computer business, a software glitch alone should never postpone a launch, there must be a hardware issue as well.

Wasn't that just a malicious rumor?

Which? The battery change or the software bug?

P.S. Another hint for problems is the change of EV-heads...the old one is now boss of Renault Argentina...doesn't sound like a reward...

The R-link issue. What's the battery change about?

I surfed the net...the r-link issue really doesn't seem clear...I didn't find anything official, but the Renault sites are more marketing than info...

Doesn't say anything about a change... Is it about the way it's cooled?

Follow the link in post#4.

The Zoe is all new and on the brink of technology - although I can hardly wait (it's like being a child again counting the days to birthday/christmas :-), I prefer something that works as flawless as possible.

Aah... Have read that and the thread, but it didn't come to my mind...
I'm not really that worried about it. Renault has put a lot into this, and the Zoe is supposed to be their electric front figure. Thus I don't think the LG's are "bad" or flawed compared to the previous choice or the batteries used in the Leaf. And besides that the batteries are leased, and if the batteries really are bad then the car simply will have to have replacement batteries more often...
Something like a contract on batteries for an entire "fleet" of EV cars isn't just made overnight, and they haven't just changed it 3 months before launch. This deal has been underway a long time, and has just been made public now.

This is just my opinion and I might be wrong... That would explain the "promotion" of the EV-head...

RE: ****...software bug in R-link postpones Zoe launch

Just found this one on the Zoe Fan page on FB:
http://green.autoblog.com/2012/07/27...017-zoe-has-s/

Something about current-gen batteries built in a factory in France from 2015 and next-gen batteries built in the same factory from 2017... Nothing about the battery status right now.
