Does preheat deplete battery if plugged in?

I always thought that if plugged in, using the comfort timer (preheat) drew power from the mains rather than from the traction battery. Events yesterday have put a doubt in my mind. In the end I didn't go out in the morning as planned so Zoe was left plugged in all day until I went out mid-afternoon. I used the key fob to start a quick 5 minutes of heating before unplugging and driving off.
Any thoughts anyone?

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
